The Challenge
Backup and disaster recovery gets complicated quickly when an IT provider is responsible for dozens or hundreds of client environments.
The challenge was to explain what makes a backup and recovery platform MSP-centric without relying on technical jargon, complicated diagrams, or software screenshots.
The goal: make the concept understandable in about 60 seconds.
The Approach
I started by breaking the subject into one simple idea:
Instead of managing every client's backup environment separately, an MSP-centric platform brings visibility, protection, and recovery into one centralized system.
That became the narrative structure for the entire piece.
Rather than trying to explain every feature, I focused the story around the problems an MSP needs to solve: managing multiple customers, monitoring different systems, protecting data, responding when something goes wrong, and scaling as the business grows.
Simplifying the Visual Language
The first visual concepts contained too much information, so I stripped the system back.
Each scene communicates one idea:
Multiple clients → Multiple systems → One platform → Protected data → Recovery → Scale
A restrained visual system of simple diagrams, large symbols, negative space, and a single accent color keeps the technology understandable at a glance.
The motion follows the same principle. Animation is used to explain relationships and processes rather than simply add movement..
AI-Assisted Production
I developed the project using an AI-enabled production workflow spanning research, scripting, visual development, motion, narration, editing, and final delivery.
AI accelerated exploration and production, but the key decisions remained editorial: what information mattered, what could be removed, how the story should progress, and whether each visual actually made the technology easier to understand.
The final piece combines custom-generated visual assets, motion graphics, AI narration, sound design, editing, and synchronized captions.
The Result
A concise 60-second technical explainer that turns an unfamiliar B2B technology concept into a simple visual story.
